Ask the fans: Are the Red Stars ready for their third straight win?

In their fourth match of the season, the Chicago Red Stars take on the Boston Breakers Saturday at Harvard’s Jordan Field. The Red Stars have come out on top in their last two matches and are looking for their third consecutive win of the season against the Breakers.

Per the Red Stars, “The match holds special implications for new Red Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, who became a fan favorite over the course of her combined five years with the Breakers, prior to joining her current team this offseason.”

I asked the fans, including a few devoted Chicago Local 134 supporters, what they’re most interested in seeing in tomorrow’s game, and here’s what they had to say.

  • I am interested to see if Amanda Da Costa starts in the 10 spot tomorrow which frees (Christen) Press to play back up top again. Da Costa was impressive for the little time she saw last game so I want to see if the same is true for a full 90 minutes. -Mallory Ann | Chicago Red Stars
  • I want to see if we can get the goals flowing. Right now we have one goal per game; which is great because we haven’t been shut out yet, but concerning since we need more offensive action from (Jen) Hoy, (Sofia) Huerta, (Vanessa) DiBernardo, etc. -Jon Forsythe | Chicago Red Stars
  • I’m curious to see how our offense develops. Press is obviously our ringer, but how the Huerta/Hoy/Press trio plays out over the course of the season is a big question for me! -Maggie Dziubek | Chicago Red Stars
  • I’ve been really curious to continue seeing Christen as a captain. She’s obviously uber-talented but she doesn’t have the usual leader presence you’d expect from a captain. (She, honestly, seems pretty shy/introverted in person.) -Jake Campbell | Chicago Red Stars
  • The potential for rough play, between Chicago’s reputation and (McCall) Zerboni on the other side. -Vincent Carveth | Portland Thorns
  • Can the Boston Breakers solve their scoring woes? -Tai Richardson | Seattle Reign; Orlando Pride

One thing is certain, Chicago Red Stars supporters are excited to thank Boston, once again, for Naeher.

May the best team win.
